Brain Bank, Management and Research

This international school aims at training researchers for the postmortem analysis of neurodegenerative diseases (such as Alzheimer) as well as staff in charge of the management of a biological resources center dedicated to nervous system, known as “Brain Bank”.

The first part of the school in Brain bank management and research will take place in Paris in 2015, the second part in Sao Paulo in 2016. Participants will have access to two world-class facilities: the GIE NeuroCEB Brain Bank at the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris and the Brain bank of the University of Sao Paulo.

The participants will study:

1) Brain banks management (involving experts in biological engineering, quality, bioethics, health law)

2) Medical care and correlations between clinical medicine, imaging and neuropathology, as well as lesions assessment and statistics of morphological parameters.

3) Medical research on morphological analysis, biochemical and genetical analysis of samples, using microdissection and mass spectrometry. The access to both Brain banks in Paris and Sao Paulo will allow lab works.
